Cementing its place as the number one university for the creative arts in Australia, Griffith University has launched the Griffith Centre for Creative Industries at the Gold Coast campus.

The centre connects the Gold Coast creative industries community with Griffith graduates and the university and is home to the new Bachelor of Creative Industries degree.

Bringing together a range of creative offerings across the Arts, Education and Law Group the Bachelor of Creative Industries is embedded in the local context of living arts and building creative communities.

Students can choose majors in sound design, commercial music, digital arts, photo media, drama, screen development and curation and interactive storytelling.

Director Associate Professor Christopher Klopper says the new degree empowers graduates with the skills and knowledge to transform communities.

“It’s designed to attract students who aspire to be an enabler rather the performer in a creative career.

“In the same way the Gold Coast was built on the “have a go spirit”, our students are taught through innovative, creative practices, how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset that helps them to be independent, flexible and adaptable.”
