Under the new agreement QIBT will be located in a new $28m building on the Griffith University Gold Coast campus which will provide teaching and learning facilities for the College, alongside the Griffith English Language Institute.
QIBT will continue to operate on the Mt Gravatt campus.
Griffith University and Navitas have partnered to provide quality academic pathway programs to domestic and international students since 1998 with more than 2000 students currently enrolled at the college on the Mt Gravatt campus.
The new blended agreement supersedes the University’s existing 10-year agreement with Navitas which was renewed in 2008.
The expansion of QIBT, to two Griffith University campuses, is a direct result of the valued and committed relationship between Navitas and Griffith University said Navitas Chief Executive Officer Rod Jones.
“With Griffith we have been enabling more students to succeed at university and to realise their life goals for over 12 years.
“This has only been achieved through our joint commitment to quality education and to student support.”
Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Sue Spence said the University was very pleased QIBT was expanding its operation to the Gold Coast campus.
“Through their studies QIBT students can gain a direct pathway to university education and are well prepared for university life,” Professor Spence said.
The QIBT Gold Coast campus is expected to welcome its first students in semester one 2012.
