Art lecturer wins People’s Choice Award

Queensland College of ArtlecturerDr Julie Fragarhas won the $15,000 Ramsay Art Prize People’s Choice Award. The biennial art award recognises Australian contemporary artists under 40 working across any medium. Dr Fragar's oil painting, Goose Chase: All of Us Together Here and Nowhere, won the popular prize and has been acquired by the Art Gallery of South Australia.

QCA unveils new South Bank design studios

The Queensland College of Art has unveiled its new design studios at South Bank. The state-of-the-art creative space will provide cutting edge facilities and equipment for students pursuing a design and fine art career. The 3D print and laser cutting labs, microelectronics workshops, fine arts studios and flexible work spaces allow students to take their concepts from design to prototype under one roof.

Dale Harding’s latest exhibition has taken him on a journey from the wilderness of Carnarvon Gorge to the dizzying heights of the contemporary art scene in Europe. The Queensland College of Art doctoral candidate is back in Australia after exhibiting in Athens and Kassel as part of Documenta 14 — dubbed the ‘art Olympics’.

Griffith graduates feature in world’s biggest contemporary art exhibit

Two graduates from the Queensland College of Art have been chosen to exhibit at Documenta 14, the world’s most prestigious contemporary art event. Doctoral candidate Dale Harding and Masters graduate Gordon Hookey are among just three Australian artists invited to show their work at Documenta. The blockbuster exhibition is held every five years in Kassel, Germany and features the best contemporary artists from around the world.
