A new podcast from Griffith Business School, made in association with the Blackmore Family Foundation, goes behind the scenes with some of Australia and New Zealand’s most influential CEOs to unpack what leadership really looks like today.
Griffith Business School has launched a new podcast series, Leadership Matters, featuring in-depth conversations with CEOs and senior leaders from across Australia and New Zealand about how leadership is practised in an ANZ context.
Hosted by Professor Ruth McPhail, Dean (Engagement) at Griffith Business School, the series is produced in association with the Blackmore Family Foundation and grew out of the Foundation’s annual Impact Leadership Retreat, which brings together senior leaders from Australia and New Zealand to reflect on purpose-driven leadership.
“We wanted to create a space where leaders could talk honestly about what it actually takes to lead— not the polished version, but the real one,” Professor McPhail said.
“Every guest in this first season has been generous enough to reflect on the moments that shaped them, the mistakes they’ve learned from, and the advice they’d give the next generation of leaders.”
The first three episodes feature:
- Steve Chapman — Founder of Baron Partners and Chairman of the Blackmore Family Foundation, on more than 40 years in corporate advisory and why leadership isn’t about title or being the loudest voice in the room.
- Steve Jurkovich — Chief Executive of Kiwibank, on the mentors who shaped his career and why great leadership starts with caring about people.
- Lynn Kraus AM — CEO of Australian Payments Plus, on stepping into her power, building capable teams, and why great leaders don’t need to have all the answers.
Episodes are available on Spotify and YouTube, with new conversations to be released regularly.
“Leadership has never been more complex, or more human,” Professor McPhail said.
“Our hope is that current and emerging leaders listening in will walk away with something practical they can use straight away.”
