Griffith University has ranked 29th in the 2021Times Higher EducationYoung University Rankings, improving one position on the previous year.
The global ranking includes institutions that were founded between 1971 and today and applies the same methodology as the World University Rankings to assess research-intensive universities across core missions of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook, but weightings are recalibrated to reflect the profile of young universities.
Vice Chancellor and President Professor Carolyn Evans said in challenging times all universities must focus on their core values.
“More than a year since the start of the pandemic, it is wonderful to see students active on our campuses,” Professor Evans said.
“We are delighted by this lift in our ranking which recognises the exceptional learning, teaching and research opportunities we provide and reinforces our impact in creating a better future.”
“Since we started teaching over 40 years ago, we’ve been deeply connected to the Asian region, socially conscious and environmentally aware.
“We provide our students with a wide range of subjects provided by first rate teachers and many opportunities to engage with future employers.
“As well as being internationally recognised in rankings like this one, our research has been of great benefit to our local communities.
“Griffith has become a comprehensive, research-intensive university, ranking in the top 2%of universities worldwide.”
In other young university metrics, Griffith recently retained a ranking of 33rd in the QS Top 50 Under 50.
First published in 2012, the QS Top 50 Under 50 ranks the best universities in the world which are under 50 years old.
