Two Griffith Law School students have won the Administrative Appeals Tribunal’s Negotiating Outcomes on Timecompetition this week.
Open to all Law schools throughout Queensland, the competition encourages students to use their alternative dispute resolution skills to work collaboratively and create win-win solutions.
Griffith Law students James Vercoe and Brittany May ultimately prevailed in a quality grand final against a team from the University of Queensland TC Beirne School of Law.
James and Brittany are experienced mooters having earned their place on the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot team. They travelled to Hong Kong earlier in the year to compete against Law schools from around theworld.
The latest win marks a successful year for Griffith Law School students in mooting competitions. In fact, James recorded a moot win earlier this year alongside Charlotte Roache. Together they won the national QUT Torts Moot competition, a first for Griffith University.
“We’re very proud of these wonderful students who have represented Griffith Law School so splendidly and we congratulate them on their win,” says Deputy Head of School Associate Professor Therese Wilson.
James and Brittany are also actively involved in mentoring other Griffith Law students participating in mooting competitions. In September, James coached the Griffith team consisting of Paris Ball and Nick Phelps-Morissey to second place overall in the national Michael Kirby Contract Moot competition.
