Final-year Musical Theatre students wowed Brisbane audiences when they performed the much-loved musical Miss Saigon at the Queensland Conservatoriumlast month.
More than 3000 people attended the show over seven days (nine performances) with overwhelmingly positive feedback from theatre-goers.
Queensland Conservatorium Head of Musical Theatre Paul Sabey says the musical’s universal themes of love and loss resonate with audiences as much today as when it was first performed in the 1980s.
“Following their final showcase at QPAC, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, this will be the first group of students to graduate from the musical theatre course,’’ he said.
“I’m absolutely thrilled and delighted with the professionalism and talent of these young performers.”
“I’m immensely excited to watch them graduate and see their careers unfold. Everyone in the musical theatre department is extremely proud of this graduating year.”
Musical theatre lovers can see talent from the Queensland Conservatorium Musical Theatre Department over the next few months when the third-years perform their showcase at QPAC, the second years present the iconic 60s musical Hair and the first years feature in a series of short plays.
The entire musical theatre department will perform “Celebrating a Musical Christmas’’(A Christmas Concert) on 4th and 5th of December at St John’s Cathedral.
