Professor Darryl Low Choy, Head of Discipline (Planning) in the Griffith School of Environment, has been made a Fellow of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ).
The Professor of Environmental and Landscape Planning has been honoured for his work as a leading environmental practitioner.
Professor Low Choy was warmly congratulated by the President of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand, Mr Michael Chilcott.
“Both personally, and on behalf of your EIANZ colleagues, let me extend congratulations to you on your recognition as a Fellow,” he said.
“Fellowship acknowledges your extraordinary contribution to the profession, your professional commitment, length of service and high ethical standards of practice.”
The Environment Institute is a leading professional body in Australia and New Zealand for environmental practitioners. It is a non-profit, politically independent professional association.
Professor Low Choy has gratefully accepted this professional tribute.
“In order to create and maintain a sustainable society, it is necessary to continue to educate future generations of environmental planners who can maintain the highest of professional, ethical and environmental standards,” Professor Low Choy said.
“We must work tirelessly to build recognition of our profession within the broader community and continuously strive to improve the standards of environmental practice,” he said.
Professor Low Choy leads research into a range of environmental planning issues including; values led planning and indigenous landscape values,resilience and peri-urbanisation of the landscape,climate change adaptation for human settlements,planning for natural resource management,strategic post disaster recovery planning,the science-planning relationship.
