Griffith University’s School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences has celebrated its high achieving Pharmacy and Pharmacology students and alumni at its awards night on the Gold Coast.
Head of School Professor Shailendra Dukie said 107 attendees from across the university and industry partners attended the ceremony which saw 20 awards handed out.
“This is the first time we’ve been able to host the awards since the COVID pandemic in 2019, so to be able to come together and thank our industry partners and honour the hard work of our students, some of whom are now alumni, was wonderful,” Professor Dukie said.
“The awards are based on the academic results up until the end of 2022 and is indicative of the bright stars entering the industry.
“A special award introduced for the first time this year was the empathy award chosen by student peers in honour of students and staff no longer with us”
The school was also delighted to welcome Joyce McSwan as a special guest speaker for the evening, a multi-award-winning clinical pharmacist and educator within the field of pain management.
Ms McSwan spoke about her journey over the past 20 years, talking about the values that have stood by her throughout her career.
