Studying at Griffith University as an international student gave Kazakhstan national Zhamila Moldasheva the skills needed to score her dream marketing job back home.
Zhamila now works as a corporate content creator for innovative Kazakh financial group Kaspi.kz, where she creates promotional videos, tells partner and client stories, and seizes on media opportunities.
“Griffith taught me to think creatively but also logically, to build the right connections, to correctly organise my work and think differently — my boss likes that,” she said.
Australia was a bucket list destination for Zhamila and when she saw the content of her desired course — a Master of Marketing — and Griffith’s location, she said knew it was the right choice for her.
“I liked the quality of the education, friendly staff, location of the campus and the highly-qualified professors,” Zhamila said.
“I always had support from my teachers who were so friendly when explaining everything to me and always helped me to ensure my understanding was clear.”
She studied at Nathan campus, while living at South Bank and in the CBD, and took advantage of Brisbane’s convenient location in her spare time.
“I love that Australians live in harmony with nature,” Zhamila said.
“It’s only a one-hour drive to the ocean — the ocean is magnificent there.
“On the weekend there are so many places to visit, from national parks and beaches to city festivals and nice places to dine.”
While Zhamila said she missed the climate and beaches, it was the laid-back Australian attitudes she missed most of all.
“Aussies are the happiest people in the world — I miss the smiley people.”
