UNESCO invites Griffith Education Professor to deliver education research workshops

Education Professor Stephen Billet has been invited by UNESCO to lead a workshop in Morocco, to assist in the development and uptake of work-based learning in the Southern Mediterranean area.

The workshop will be held in Morocco’s capital, Rabat, in October, and will bring together key agencies and staff from regional UNESCO centres, local experts and a principal adviser from UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

It will focus on building a better understanding of how workplace experiences can be used to assist the employability of young people, and be integrated into their technical, vocational education and training programs.

In particular, young women’s participation in work-based learning will be considered, and how to promote effective approaches in the region.

Professor Billett has a strong track record of projects and work-based learning in the Arab region, particularly associated with the standing and status of vocational education.
