Griffith University launches Friends of Griffith Business School on this Friday, aiming to strengthen links between the Gold Coast’s business community and the expert staff and state-of-the-art resources at the university’s Gold Coast campus.
“Our intention is to stimulate and encourage collaboration between business leaders and thought leaders,” Pro Vice Chancellor (Business), Professor Michael Powell, said.
Industry leaders and Griffith business alumni will make up the Friends of Griffith Business School management committee which will be chaired by prominent Gold Coast business leader Janelle Manders.
Ms Manders, managing partner with HLB Mann Judd, will deliver the inaugural presentation on Futures Gold Coast to the Friends of Griffith Business School luncheon on Friday.
“We are keen to make the Gold Coast business community aware of the depth and breadth of research that is ongoing at Griffith Business School, and to connect them with leading researchers relevant to their fields,” Professor Powell (left) said.
“We will create a networking environment that could open the door to the type of background data or knowledge that a business owner or entrepreneur is looking for.”
Professor Powell highlighted the effective links that the Griffith Institute for Tourism has established with Gold Coast tourism operators.
He is also confident that the Friends of Griffith Business School initiative will help make the Gold Coast community aware of the potential benefits to be gained through internships set up by Griffith’s Work Integrated Learning program.
Industry representatives from areas like health, financial planning, local government, media and commerce attending on Friday will also be made aware of the function spaces and related facilities available in the new $38 million business building on the Gold Coast campus.
“This is an exciting and an important initiative for the Gold Coast business community,” Janelle Manders said.
“The interaction and exchange of ideas will give people who are passionate about their business a great opportunity to play a role in the future of the Gold Coast through identifying issues and driving innovation and better business.”
