Griffith University was well represented across all events at yesterday’s Gold Coast Bulletin Fun Run at Robina.
On a gorgeous Gold Coast morning, Griffith runners were among 3000 entrants who gathered at Cbus Stadium to participate in events including the Rebel Sport Kids Dash (1km), London Estate Agents Family Run/Walk (2.5km), Brooks Run (5km), Heritage Bank (10km) and, of course, the Griffith University Half-Marathon over 21km.
Broadbeach athlete Brad Beer took out the men’s half-marathon after finishing second last year. Camp Hill’s Clare Geraghty won the women’s event and finished third overall.
Meanwhile, Griffith Health students were also on hand to monitor athletes’ blood pressure and provide massages to relieve the aching muscles of weary competitors.
The next major participation event for Griffith University will be the 2015 Gold Coast Marathon on July 4-5.
For the past three years, Griffith has won the Largest Corporate Team category and this year the University is again offering staff, students and alumni the opportunity to receive a discount on their registration fee (for the race of your choice) and a free Griffith singlet.
Furthermore, Team Griffith will ‘run and raise’ for the Students Future Fund, which awards scholarships to talented and dedicated students from all backgrounds and ensures they can complete their education regardless of personal financial circumstances.
Runners based at Griffith’s Logan campus can take advantage of the free bus to and from the marathon precinct at the Southport Broadwater.
The deadline for registrations is April 30, 2015, so be quick. For more details, go toGriffith Marathon.
