QCA Showcase finale

The QCA will present a one day closing event to celebrate the work of this year's graduates

Closing event – Wednesday 3 December

Following the destructive storm last week which postponed the end of year showcase for the Queensland College of Art, the staff and students have come together to craft a finale event for Wednesday 3 December.

Running all day and into the evening, exhibitions will feature Brisbane’s hottest emerging artists with over 200 of this year’s graduates presenting fine art, photography, design, jewellery, sculpture, film, animation and games design across the South Bank campus.

The closing event will also coincide with The GAS: Graduate Art Show and The Survey Co. Art Award, an exhibition of graduate work from the year curated by Acting Director of Griffith University Art Gallery, Naomi Evans, with the winner to be announced at 6.00pm.

According to the QCA Director Paul Cleveland, the extended exhibition viewing and closing ceremony will give everyone the opportunity to see the incredible work students have worked tirelessly to create.

“The Showcase is an ideal opportunity for the community to see firsthand the incredible talent being nurtured locally,” he says.

“The QCA was the training ground for artists such as Michael Zavros, Victoria Reichelt, Vernon Ah Kee, Tony Albert, Abbey McCulloch and Gordon Bennett, and the latest cohort of graduates is showing just as much promise.

“Everyone has worked so hard to bring this to fruition and despite the setback of last week’s storm, we’re proud to now present this finale event as a fitting end to the year’s activities.”

Awards presentations begin on stage from 5.30pm.
