Dozens of staff and students have laced up their runners and battled it out in the famous Nathan Dash.

Back by popular demand for the first time in eight years, the Nathan Dash is a660m sprint through Griffith’s Nathan Campus.

Starting in the Campus Heart, the course took runners along the Johnson path, through the underpass to The Hub, past the centre for Interfaith and Cultural Dialogue and back down the Johnson path to finish once more in the Campus Heart.

Race categories included a staff relay, a student relay, fastest man and fastest woman as well as a fiercely contested inter- college race for residential students.

And while competition on the track was intense, those cheering them on also gave it their all.

The winners came away with not only the right to brag about being fastest on campus, but there was also $150 dollars in prize money for Open Student — Women’s and Men’s categories

Griffith Sport Event Coordinator Holly Ruhle said the event is just one of a growing portfolio of sporting events organised by the Griffith Sports team.

“It promotes the fantastic fitness culture at Griffith that is nurtured by the University’s many sporting facilities.

“And there are more fun, competitive activities on the horizon.”
