Tackling the big issues is the focus across the Arts, Education and Law (AEL) Group this month.

Geoffrey Robertson QC travels from the UK next week to head the line-up for the Global Integrity Summit (September 9-10), hosted by the AEL Group. He joins more than 30 international experts on integrity who will explore some of the greatest integrity challenges and opportunities of the G20 agenda, to be held in Brisbane in November this year.

The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice is hosting the bi-annual Fitzgerald Lecture (September 10), with Professor Emeritus David Bayley presenting on ‘Police Accountability: Queensland and the World’, drawing on his extensive research in India, Japan, Australia, Canada, Britain, Singapore, and the United States.

In this edition we celebrate students, staff and alumni successes, including Queensland College of Art (QCA) Alumnus Tony Albert who recently won two major art prizes, for works which address issues of racism in sport and more broadly.

Alumni success will also be the focus at the AEL Gala Dinner and Awards Night on October 17. Nominations have now closed, however tickets are now on sale for Alumni, family and friends.

I hope you can join us.
