Distinguished Queenslanders from the Griffith community have been honoured in the 2014 Queen’s Birthday honours list.
They are:
The Honourable Dr Barry Jones — Dr Jones is a Doctor of the University.
Awarded for: Eminent service to the community as a leading intellectual in Australian public life, through contributions to scientific, heritage, musical, medical, political and public health organisations, and to the Australian Parliament.
Mrs Winifred SCHUBERTAO — Mrs Schubert has been a great supporter of Griffith University over many years.
Awarded for: Distinguished service to the community as a supporter and benefactor of a range of not-for-profit organisations, Australian artists and galleries.
Mrs Rhonda White AO — Mrs White is a current Griffith University Council Member and a Doctor of the University.
Awarded for: Distinguished service to the pharmacy professional, particularly through contributions to education and retail management practices, and as a role model for women in business.
Chief Judge Patricia Wolfe AO — Chief Judge Wolfe is a past Griffith University Council member and Doctor of the University.
Awarded for: Distinguished service to the judiciary, to the law through legal education reform, and as a mentor and role model for women.
Emeritus Professor Ross Andrew FITZGERALD AM — Professor Fitzgerald taught history and politics at Griffith University for many years.
Awarded for: Significant service to education in the field of politics and history as an academic, and to community and public health organisations.
Emeritus Professor Graham Jones AM — Professor Jones was the foundation director of the Gold Coast College of Advanced Education (GCAAE), which became a University College of Griffith University in 1990.
Awarded for: Significant service to mathematics education as an academic and leader in the profession, and to the community.
Professor John Robert O’TOOLEAM — Professor O’Toole was a Professor of Applied Theatre and drama education at Griffith University for many years.
Awarded for: Significant service to drama in education, as a lecturer, author, mentor and researcher.
