A singing and dancing cavalcade of musical theatre students will delight audiences with a snow-themed performance at this year’s IGA Lord Mayor’s Carols in the City.

The group of first, second and third year students will perform a snow medley featuring favourites such as Winter Wonderland and Let it Snow, on the Brisbane Riverstage in the city’s most anticipated annual Christmas concert.

The 28 students will join local talent including Australian Idol’s Paulini, Jack Vigen, Mirusia — a Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University graduate who recently returned to the country after touring with Andre Rieu; Debra Byrne, Silvie Paladino and a host of others.

The Christmas celebrations started early this year at the Con, with the musical theatre department presenting their annual two-night concert at St John’s Cathedral this week.

The group has been in festive training with Head of Musical Theatre at the Queensland Conservatorium, Mr Paul Sabey, who says audiences can expect the Snow Medley to be a highlight of the Carols in the City experience.

“The finishing touches are being made to a performance which is set to thrill all ages, with plans to even incorporate a hint of winter onto the stage,” he says.

The cohort was invited to participate in the event, which is also set to be broadcast on Channel Ten and Southern Cross closer to Christmas Day.
