Following a worldwide talent search, a 22-year-old student from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University has been selected to fly to London to perform at Jonathan Reid Gealt’s West End concert, “Here for You”.

Through a process of video submissions, Tom Cromwell is one of only three singers selected and will sing the composer’s signature song ‘Quiet’ at the prestigious live performances on 14 – 15 September.

He will join the likes of the finest and most established musical theatre performers from West End stage as part of Jonathan Reid Gealt’s “Here for You (Ballads for Broadway Impact)” UK album launch at the St James Studio Cabaret Festival in London.

Tom is currently a second year Bachelor of Music, Jazz Voice Performance student at the Queensland Conservatorium and regularly performs with his own band throughout Brisbane.

Dr Irene Bartlett, Head of Jazz Vocal Studies at the Queensland Conservatorium, says Tom is a truly gifted young musician.

“His unique vocal tone adds depth and warmth to a wide range of contemporary commercial music repertoire from jazz to R&B and musical theatre.”

“Tom interprets all styles with a disarming honesty and humility which captures the imagination of his audience.

“I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this accolade,” she said.

The organiser, Jonathan Reid Gealt is one of the most decorated and sought after young composers of musical theatre and his online videos (YouTube & MySpace) have seen more than 750,000 views.
