A workshop on the Governance of International Organisations, organised by Centre for Governance and Public Policy Professors Xu and Weller (18-19 February), brought to Brisbane several senior current and former officials from the World Bank, the UN Food Agriculture Organisation, IMF, World Trade Organisation, and World Intellectual Property Organisation. They included former vice presidents and chiefs of staff.
The participants discussed challenges all international organisations face in global governance, such as the changing world power structure, the un-coordinated decisions of government agencies in their participation of IOs, and the increasing interconnectedness of all IOs and other non-state organisations.
