A greater reliance on digital media and the ever-increasing cultural variety in music has prompted a reappraisal of what music skills and habits are today.
“Sound Musicianship”, the latest publication from Professor Andrew Brown of the Queensland Conservatorium, challenges what music as a craft could and should be.
“The implications of sound, experience, motion and culture encourage readers to redefine their views on the nature of contemporary music and consider the impacts for future practice,” he says.
Brown joins a host of expert authors in his book as they examine technical, psychological, physical, cultural and education perspectives and the challenges and opportunities of making music.
