Criminology lecturers have won an award to develop web-based learning tools for under-prepared or disadvantaged students who are studying online.

Dr Kate Smith, Dr Rosie Teague, Mr Simon Little, Ms Nicola Cheyne, Dr Troy Allard and Ms Oriel South recently received a 2012 Griffith Grant for Learning and Teaching.

Mr Simon Little, OUA Associate Lecturer in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, said the project sought to enhance students’ basic academic skills.

“These skills are important for all students, but the lack of online options provides particular challenges to distance students.”

“We will be creating a suite of web-based resources to help students with their studies, which should help them achieve better grades and feel more supported throughout their degree,” he said.
