School of Criminology and Criminal Justice researchers have received more than $800,000 in recent Australian Research Council Discovery funding.

Research into sexual victimisation, violence and abuse has received a significant boost thanks to the funding.

Professor Kathleen Daly received $420,000 for her project on sexual victimisation and justice which investigates victim’s justice needs and compares the effectiveness of courts, conferences, compensation and truth-seeking.

Dr Benoit Leclerc, Professor Richard Wortley, Dr Danielle Reynald and Professor Stephen Smallbone received almost $380,000 for their research into preventing sexual violence and abuse.

Staff also received Australian Research Council Discovery funding for collaborative projects with colleagues at other institutions.

Associate Professor Tina Murphy received $280,000 with Dr Adrian Cherney, University of Queensland, for their project ‘Avoiding community backlash in the fight against terrorism’.
