Staff development program receives citation

Dr Jacqueline Drew has been awarded a 2012 Arts, Education and Law Group Learning and Teaching Citation.

The citation was awarded to Dr Drew, Dr Lynda Davies and Ms Karin Barac for the development of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice’s sessional staff development program.

Dr Drew said the program incorporated orientation for new sessional staff and professional development sessions available to all CCJ sessional staff.

“The program contributes to our teaching staff’s understanding of learning theory, and encourages them to apply that theory to their teaching within the School. It encourages them to reflect on their practice and improve the learning experience of CCJ students,” said Dr Drew.

Associate Professor Janet Ransley, Head of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, said the orientation program helps sessional staff deliver quality teaching and provides an engaging and inspiring learning environment for students.

Dr Drew recently spoke at the Annual Social Media in Higher Education Conference in Sydney about the program and the work she has done within the School to provide professional development opportunities to sessional staff, focusing on pedogogy and teaching in a blended learning environment.
