Griffith celebrates NAIDOC Week

GUMURRII Head, Maureen Ah Sam says the celebrations, held across Australia each July honour the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and are celebrated not just by Indigenous peoples but by Australians from all walks of life.

“GUMURRII will have an information booth at Musgrave Park and we encourage everyone to come along and learn about the Indigenous cultures found in Australia,” Ms Ah Sam said.

“The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.”

Highlights of the week will be the Family Fun Days held in a range of locations across the greater Brisbane area, including:

– the Musgrave Park Family Fun Day on Friday, July 9, 9am-5pm,

– the Ipswich Family Fun and Information Day on Thursday, July 8, 10am-2pm, Evan Marginson Park, Goodna.
